Canon Powershot SX520 vs. SX530

If you are looking for a decent and reliable digital camera with a budget around three hundred bucks or so, you may have put Canon Powershot SX520 and Canon Powershot SX530 into your consideration list. As these two models are made by the same manufacturer and come from the same series, the two share many resemblances to each other. About the prices, of course, SX530 is available at a slightly higher price point than SX520. So, what are the differences between these two models? Which one makes the best bang for the bucks?

Improved Tele Reach
As a matter of fact, SX530 is an update model for SX520, hence the similarities. One notable improvement is the lens. Previously, on Canon Powershot SX520, the maximum tele reach is only 1008 mm, which translate into 42X maximum optical zoom. In case if you need some extra magnification power, Canon Powershot SX530 has been introduced with 1200 mm maximum focal length. The F/3.4 – F/6.5 zoom lens is able to provide up to 50X optical zoom. This feat is always beneficial and handy whenever you need to shoot an object from a long distance.

Needless to say, both models still rely on the 16 MP high-sensitivity CMOS image sensor and the Canon DIGIC 4+ image processor. Each of these models has also implemented optical image stabilization for sharp and blur-free images. They each also has an integrated flash, which is handy when facing a low-light condition. Meanwhile, the AF feature has decent speed. It locks and tracks the photo object quickly and accurately. Both models are able to capture stunning 1080p Full HD videos with excellent vivid colors and details. In addition, the Zoom Framing Assist also performs an excellent job; the unique feature provides such an easy way to track and capture photo object even when using the extreme telephoto mode.

Added Wireless Connectivity
In addition, Canon Powershot SX530 is now coming with built-in Wi-Fi. This feature is not available in Canon Powershot SX520. Having built-in Wi-Fi is indeed very convenient. It allows you to share photos and videos seamlessly to any iOS and Android device. You can also upload them directly to Facebook, YouTube, Flickr, Twitter, and Google Drive without using a computer. And, it also makes possible direct printing to a PictBridge-certified printer.

All in all, Canon Powershot SX530 is indeed a much better way to go. The improved tele reach is always handy to be had, and the built-in Wi-Fi opens a wider range of functionality.
