Canon XA10 vs. XA20

When you are looking for the best professional camcorder for you professional usage, there are a number of factors that you need to consider, such as the quality of the recording, video and audio formats, also performance and ease-of-usage. Among many products available over the market, a lot of people often get confused in choosing between Canon XA10 and Canon XA20. Both models are made by the same manufacturer and share many similarities. Even so, Canon XA20 is available at a higher price than Canon XA10. So, is Canon XA20 worth the price step-up? Design
In terms of design, Canon XA20 is indeed a thud larger and heavier than Canon XA10. Even so, the XA20 comes with several improvements from the X10. Both models feature touchscreen control, yet Canon XA20’s touchscreen is more responsive. It also offers manual control over the menu. This allows for a more intuitive navigation through the functions and features. In addition, the layout of the buttons and connection ports is better, allowing for easier reach by the user’s fingers, and with proper spacing between buttons to prevent accidental wrong presses. Feature
Both models can record into AVCHD and MP4 formats. Canon XA10 and Canon XA20 come with a lot of identical features, such as the smart autofocus system with five AF modes: Instant AF, Medium AF, Normal AF, Face AF, and Face Only AF. They both are armed with Touch Focus and Touch & Track features, which are very useful and handy for easily pinpointing a specific area to focus on and tracking moving objects.

Performance
Although Canon XA20 retains many similar features from Canon XA10, Canon XA20 indeed comes with a much more powerful engine than Canon XA10. Both models still rely on the 1/3-inch, 1920 x 1080 CMOS image sensor with an 8-blade iris. However, while Canon XA10 utilizes Canon’s DIGIC DV III Image Processor, Canon XA20 boasts the newer Canon DIGIC DV IV Image Processor. As the effect, the recording quality is noticeably better. The images are brighter, with more dynamic latitude and less noise. In addition, whilst Canon XA10 can record in up to 24 Mbps, Canon XA20 is able to record with a maximum quality of 35 Mbps.

Canon XA10 vs. XA20
Canon XA20 comes with a lot of improvements from Canon XA10. The design and performance are much better than the predecessor. Therefore, Canon XA20 is worth the money and should be the way to go!
