Canon XA11 vs XA30

Canon XA30 is packed with a large 3.5-inch high resolution OLED screen that is larger than the one in the XA11. It has external microphone terminal with manual audio level control and headphone terminal. The image processor used in this XA30 Digital DV 4 which is an upgraded version. 

It has manual focus ring with 8-blade iris which could work best in capturing smooth-out-of-focus bokeh. Just like in the XA11, this camcorder also comes with detachable handle that could give expanded audio performance and flexibility. 

It also has 2 built-in XLR audio input terminals, infrared light that allows recording video in a complete darkness, HD CMOS Pro Image Sensor that could work in low light, low-luminance noise rating of +3 dB, wide DR Gamma that can balance the exposure when recording in widely varying lighting conditions. This AX30 is also equipped with 0.24-inch color viewfinder.

It is actually better to take the XA11 if you want an upgraded version of a camcorder from Canon. This XA30 is an upgrade from the XA20 since it has a better HD CMOS Pro Sensor with wide dynamic range Gamma that also appearing in the XA11.

Final Comparison

Since you are going to sometimes hold the camcorder when recording or hold it when moving around, you might want to consider the weights of these two products. The XA11 is slightly lighter than the XA30 since it weighs 745g while the XA30 weighs 765g.

Even though Canon XA11 is the upgrade version of the XA30 that was released 14 months after the XA30, it is sold in relatively cheaper cost compared to the XA30. The XA11 costs around £200 cheaper than the XA30.

The main reason of why you might need to just go with the XA11 is because Canon XA30 has been discontinued. SO, you might only find the used products sold in marketplace instead of the new one. 

If you are OK with buying used items, then you can just go with the AX30. Since it is used, the price might also be lower and you can save more money.

Further, the XA30 also has some features that are not available in the XA11. It has face detection, built-in microphone, and WiFi that allows you to have a wireless connection to transfer your data in the XA30 to other devices or social media.
