Polaroid Z340 Review: Bulky Digital Camera with Zink Instant Printer

Due to the shift of the trending technologies, film cameras are no longer the primary choices of people who are into photography. With compact digital cameras now widely available on the market, people no longer rely on film cameras. Digital cameras are much more practical and cost-efficient. However, this is not the end of Polaroid. Once known for the film cameras, Polaroid continuously innovates and create new inventions. The company now offers digital cameras with instant printing capabilities. One of these products is Polaroid Z340.

Polaroid Z340 Review

Polaroid Z340 is, in fact, a digital camera that is integrated with a Zink instant printer. If you haven’t heard about it yet, the Zink technology made by Polaroid allows for printing without any ink cartridge or ribbon. With such design, you won’t have to spend more bucks for ink replacements, and the operation becomes so simple and practical. The Zink technology uses special photo papers instead, these photo papers are processed with heat to print the images. Interestingly, the print quality is excellent. It is actually capable of delivering sharp and vivid printed photos. And, Polaroid Z340 is able to print very quickly. You can get the printed versions of your shots right away! Well, the camera is equipped with a 14MP CCD image sensor. The sensor is quite powerful for capturing images. With the optical resolution, it can deliver quite sharp and detailed pictures. The colors are also full and solid. Also, Polaroid Z340 can record videos, too. It records videos in up to 1280 x 720 HD quality. For storage, it has a memory card slot, where you can mount an SD or SDHC memory card. There is one USB 2.0 port that you can use for connecting the digital camera to a computer for file sharing.

- Snap, print, and share without using a computer - 3x4-inch full color photographs that are smudge-proof, water- and tear-resistant. - View and crop your images on the 2.7-inch LCD screen

However, one disadvantage of the camera is that it is rather bulky. The big, bulky body makes it not very portable and tricky to handle. Most ideally, it is put on a table for stability. It does not have image stabilization, so shooting with your bare hands can result in blurry images. The ISO range only goes up to 6400 and the maximum shutter speed is just 1/2000 second. On the good side, it has a nice AF system. It is powered by a rechargeable battery pack. Polaroid Z340 makes a nice choice if you really need a digital camera that can print the pics nearly instantly with decent quality. But, if not for the printing feature, it is not a very good choice for the money.
